Privacy Policy

JSON DeepL is built to collect as little as possible. There's no account, no server-side database, and no tracking. Here's exactly what happens when you use the site.

1. What We Don't Collect

We don't require an account, and we don't store your JSON files, DeepL API key, or translated content on our servers. There is no database behind this site.

2. How Translation Requests Work

When you click Translate, your JSON and DeepL API key are sent to our server for that single request, forwarded directly to DeepL's API to perform the translation, and the result is returned to your browser. We don't log, cache, or store any part of that request. Because translation is performed by DeepL using the key you provide, your content is also subject to DeepL's own privacy policy while it's being processed. Read DeepL's Privacy Policy

3. Local Storage and Cookies

Your project details (JSON, selected languages, etc.) are kept only in your browser's session storage while you use the tool, and are cleared when you close the tab. We use a couple of small, functional cookies: one to remember your light/dark mode preference, and one to remember your selected site language. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.

4. Open Source and Self-Hosting

The full source code for JSON DeepL is public. If you'd rather not rely on our hosted instance at all, you're welcome to audit the code or run your own copy. View the source on GitHub
